Golda

BreedTerrierSexFemaleSizeLargeAgeSenior

When we first met Golda we were told that based on the limited testing the shelter was able to do that it appeared Golda was in late stages of heart failure and had fluid in her chest. The shelter deemed her a hospice situation and we knew if no one took her soon she would be euthanized to make space for younger, healthier dogs in need. We left the shelter that day without Golda, but we couldn’t shake the image of her big bright eyes looking at us through her kennel. We knew we wanted the chance to give her the best last amount of time we possibly could, if only we could find a foster willing to open their hearts to such a tough situation. Not only did we find the best foster who allowed us to pull Golda from the shelter, we were also able to get her more extensive medical testing, and true to the Swampie magic ways we are so grateful for, we were shocked to learn that Golda was in fact NOT hospice. Golda is a senior, estimated around 11 years old. She is a happy, easy going lady who we thought we would have the honor of pampering for a few short weeks in the final stages of her life and now this Queen is officially UP FOR ADOPTION! Golda is dog friendly, in fact she lights up when she sees her dog friends and she plays like a youngin’. She is also cat and kid friendly, great left unattended around the house, and has the BEST prances and zoomies when she is excited. Health wise Golda has some arthritis she manages, and she does have heart disease, but it is early stages. She is on medication and special food to help slow and manage her disease. We have known dogs who have lived long periods of time with heart disease, and based on the level of pep in her step we are optimistic that this will be the case for Golda as well. We are still in shock that this “hospice dog” almost didn’t make it out of the shelter and now not only did she make it out, she has a second chance at life. Special shout out to @westhousevisuals for capturing these pictures of sweet Golda, she is simply GLOWING and excited for the rest of her forever to find her.
