Raiya

BreedTerrier / HoundSexFemaleSizeMediumAgeSenior

Meet Raiya! A gentle eleven-year-old Terrier mix currently in Buffalo, NY, whose soulful presence and mostly black coat wrap her in a quiet kind of elegance that instantly puts hearts at ease. At 46 pounds, this sweet senior girl carries herself with a calm confidence, happiest when she is close to her people, sharing in the simple joys of everyday life. Raiya is the kind of companion who turns ordinary moments into something special, whether it is a peaceful walk, a cozy nap nearby, or the satisfying crunch of one of her beloved carrots! Her personality is beautifully steady and low energy, making her a comforting presence in a home that values a slower pace. Raiya is house-trained, friendly with strangers, and gentle with young children, especially in environments where her quieter nature is respected. When someone arrives, she will happily announce it with her voice, adding a touch of watchful charm to her laid-back demeanor. Raiya knows simple commands like sit and come, and while she has not had formal training classes, she responds well to consistency and kindness. She enjoys her daily routine of two meals, relaxing when left alone, and occasional car rides where she can take in the world at her own pace. Rawhides and dental chews keep her content, and her love for cooked chicken is unmatched, though treats are best offered with a closed hand due to her eager snacking style. Raiya is looking for a compassionate family who can support a senior dog with ongoing medical needs. She is being treated for an autoimmune condition that requires medication, regular veterinary care, and routine bloodwork. She also has recurring UTIs, occasional digestive upset, and arthritis that can affect her comfort and mobility. Because she cannot safely receive certain vaccines, Raiya needs a home without other dogs. Some of her medications can also cause increased thirst, more frequent urination, and occasional accidents, so she will need patience and understanding. Raiya still enjoys affection, treats, and time with her favorite people. She needs a family who feels prepared to continue her care and help her enjoy the best possible quality of life. A fenced yard and a peaceful, caring environment will help her feel secure and supported in this next chapter. Raiya needs a new loving home where she can remain a constant companion, offering loyalty, warmth, and quiet joy every single day. She is looking for a compassionate adopter who can provide not only love, but also the dedicated care and understanding her medical needs require. Could your family be the one to give this girl the comfort, security, and support she needs for the rest of her journey? For more information, please contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!
