Fern

Meet Fern, an 8½-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bichon mix. She is loving, gentle, and truly one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met. Fern can be shy and reserved at first, but she usually starts to bond after a few days. With patience, she will come around and will become your best buddy within a week or so. Because living in a house is new to her, she is still adjusting to everyday sounds like the TV, lawn mowers, and vacuum cleaners. She is mostly a couch potato who loves staying close to you. She would do best in a home with another dog for companionship, so we are looking to place her in a home with another dog. Fern is also good with cats. Fern walks well on a leash, but leash potty breaks are still new to her and can make her a little nervous. For that reason, she needs a home with a fenced-in yard. Fern is potty trained and has not had any accidents in the house. However, she does not signal when she needs to go out, so her foster takes her outside about every three hours. She does not play with toys and is happiest staying close to you, snoozing on the couch or on in a dog bed, but if you are on the couch she will be right next to you. She currently sleeps in the kitchen with the other foster dog. Fern has not been around children, so we are unsure how she would do. Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Fern’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
