Courtesy post: Meet Max Max is an 8-year-old Pit Bull/Hound mix weighing about 45 pounds, and he's looking for the second chance he so deserves. Max's story is one of heartbreaking loss and incredible resilience. After spending eight years with the person he loved most, his owner tragically passed away. Overnight, Max lost his home, his routine, and the only family he had ever known. A kind person stepped in to care for him temporarily, but when they could no longer keep him, Max was facing surrender to a crowded shelter. Thankfully, a foster family opened their home before that happened, giving him the opportunity to find the forever family he deserves. Despite everything he has been through, Max remains a loving, trusting, and affectionate dog who simply wants to be close to his people. His foster describes him as smart, well-mannered, and an absolute joy to have around. He loves spending time outdoors, going for walks, cuddling on the couch, and proudly carrying around his favorite fluffy toys. One of his most endearing habits is tucking himself under his comfort blanket when he's ready to relax, a sweet little ritual that melts everyone's heart. Max has lived successfully with children between the ages of 10 and 16 and would likely do well with respectful older kids. He also gets along well with other dogs, especially when given slow, proper introductions. He previously lived with another Pit Bull and has done well in his foster home. He has also lived with cats and is actually a little intimidated by them, usually choosing to give them their space rather than bothering them. Max is healthy, up to date on his vaccinations, microchipped, and ready to start the next chapter of his life. While he has experienced tremendous loss, he hasn't lost his ability to love. He greets each day with hope, eager to bond with the people around him and become someone's loyal companion once again. Max isn't looking for anything extraordinary. He's looking for a family who will cherish him, include him in their daily life, and give him the security of knowing he'll never lose his home again. In return, he'll offer unwavering loyalty, gentle affection, and the kind of unconditional love that only a dog like Max can give. Max is currently being fostered in Owings, Maryland.
