Meet Copper! Copper's Second Chance. Estimated to be around 15 years old, Copper is proof that it's never too late for a fresh start. When Copper came to us, he was in heartbreaking condition. He was severely matted and had to be shaved down, covered in fleas, had overgrown nails, and was suffering from a painful mouth infection. Through no fault of his own, Copper and his friend Buttons needed rescue after their owner escaped an abusive relationship and could no longer care for them. Despite everything, one thing was immediately clear: Copper had once been deeply loved. Since coming into rescue, Copper has received the medical care he desperately needed. He underwent a dental procedure and lost all but a few teeth, but that doesn't slow him down one bit. He happily eats canned and soft food and never misses a meal! His bloodwork came back normal, he is heartworm negative, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations. He has a mild heart murmur that currently requires no medication. Copper is also completely blind, but don't tell him that. He gets around remarkably well, quickly learns his surroundings, and doesn't let his lack of vision stop him from enjoying life. His sweet spirit shines through in everything he does. He loves going for walks. His skin was badly damaged from matted fur, but it is healing beautifully. Day by day, his gorgeous coat is growing back, and the happy little Pomeranian hidden underneath is shining through. Copper currently weighs about 12 pounds and could use a few extra pounds, but what he really needs is a family. A soft bed. Gentle hands. A lap to nap in. Someone willing to love a senior dog and give him the happy ending he deserves. The photos tell the story better than words ever could. Now all he needs is a forever home to spend the rest of his days surrounded by love. If you are interested in adding this sweet boy to your family, please message us to request an adoption application. Adoption fee: no adoption fee, however our usual adoption application and process applies and it must be a good match.
