Meet Treasure

Age 16 years Anglo-Arab, Mare We at Pawsitive Impact Dog Rescue are not strictly dedicated to just rescuing dogs, as every once in a while along comes other walks of life...Meet "Treasure". She is a 16 year old, 'flea bitten grey' color, Anglo-Arab mare available for adoption. Treasure is 15.2 hands high and absolultely NOT a beginner's horse. She spent most of her life as a beautiful pasture ornament and is NOT broken for riding, although she leads easily and behaves well for farrier and vet. She requires an experienced partner, as she is highly sensitive, but is sound, a lovely mover, and with patience and proper training, would be a nice riding horse. Treasure will stand all day to be groomed and gets very attached to her handler. She is an easy keeper, barefoot, and is up to date on all shots, farrier work, and deworming. She gets along well with her herd mates and is especially attached to donkeys. Lets face it, who wouldn't love a donkey!? Treasure will NOT go to anyone as a "project horse" and will only be adopted to a forever loveing home with a contract stating that she is not to be sold and will return to rescue if for any reason her partner would need to part with her. ABOUT US > Pawsitive Impact NC Dog Rescue is a local female Veteran owned & operated 501(c)(3) All Breed Foster Based Rescue which envisions the day where every adoptable dog has a safe, loving, and responsible home. We look forward to a society that values and respects animals, one where people spay

Adopting Treasure — FAQ

How do I adopt Treasure?

Use the adoption link or contact details on this page to apply directly with Pawsitive Impact NC Dog Rescue in Charlotte, North Carolina. Lily's Second Chance lists Treasure to help them get seen — the adoption is handled by that organization.

Is Treasure still available for adoption?

Treasure's listing is refreshed regularly, but availability can change quickly as dogs are adopted. Always confirm Treasure is still available directly with Pawsitive Impact NC Dog Rescue before making plans.

Is Treasure a senior dog?

Yes. Every dog listed on Lily's Second Chance, including Treasure, is a senior — generally age 7 or older. Senior dogs are often already house-trained and calm, and they wait the longest for a home.

Can I foster Treasure instead of adopting?

Some shelters and rescues offer a foster-to-adopt path — you foster first, then complete the adoption if the match feels right. Check Treasure's profile for the organization's contact details and ask them directly whether a fostering option is available.

What should I expect in the first weeks after adopting Treasure?

Senior dogs typically have a brief adjustment period of a few days to a couple of weeks as they settle into a new home. They may be quiet or shy at first, then relax once they feel safe. A calm routine, a comfortable place to sleep, and patience usually make the transition smooth. Most senior dogs settle in faster than puppies because they are already past the demanding early stage.

Is Treasure good with children or other pets?

Compatibility depends on the individual dog's history and personality more than age or breed alone. Pawsitive Impact NC Dog Rescue can tell you about Treasure's known behavior around children, cats, and other dogs. Many organizations offer a meet-and-greet before finalizing an adoption to make sure the match is right for everyone.
