Senior dogs coming soon
These senior dogs aren't open for adoption just yet — often still in transport or intake, or waiting for applications to open. They're not counted in our adoptable totals, but you can meet them here and reach out to the rescue so you're ready the moment they become available.
Rescues often know about a senior dog before the dog is ready to be adopted: still on transport from another shelter, still in intake and veterinary checks, or waiting for the organization to open applications. This page shows those dogs so that people who want an older dog can get ready early.
Coming-soon dogs are not counted in the site's adoptable totals and their profiles say plainly that they are not yet available. The useful move is to read the profile, note the rescue, and contact them to ask about their process and timing. Many rescues welcome early interest and some will hold a conversation open until the dog is cleared.
When a dog becomes available, the listing moves into the main senior dog list and, if you have set an alert that matches, you hear about it by email. Adoption is handled by the rescue named on the profile; Lily's Second Chance only gathers the listings.
