Meet Trixie

Animal Information: Trixie is a 9.5 year old sighthound/terrier mix with a gentle, sensitive nature. Her world recently changed when her owner of nearly 8 years could no longer care for her due to a medical crisis, but through it all she has remained a sweet and loving dog. On walks she is calm and non reactive, and she really enjoys being outside. Although she had been spending much of her time in a crate, she has done so well in her foster home and has settled right back into a normal routine. Trixie is friendly with everyone she meets. She can be a little unsure in new places at first, but she warms up quickly and will start leaning in for affection before long. She is house trained, crate trained, and rides nicely in the car. Trixie would fit into many different homes and is ready to find a place where she can feel safe and loved again. Foster Profile: Trixie is a sweet girl, looking for someone who would love to give an older girl a great several years of life! She still likes to play and enjoys walks and loves her people. Trixie would prefer to be an only dog in the home, but has been fine with other dogs in public. Trixie is currently being fostered with other dogs in the home and is doing fine, but she is not a fan of small dogs in her space. Trixie does great in a car and in a crate and is house trained. She's a goofy gal with Loys of life left in her! She's great on a leash and will steal your heart. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization (ID 81-5101166). Adopting Trixie — FAQ

How do I adopt Trixie?

Use the adoption link or contact details on this page to apply directly with Dog Gone Seattle Rescue in Seattle, Washington. Lily's Second Chance lists Trixie to help them get seen — the adoption is handled by that organization.

Is Trixie still available for adoption?

Trixie's listing is refreshed regularly, but availability can change quickly as dogs are adopted. Always confirm Trixie is still available directly with Dog Gone Seattle Rescue before making plans.

Is Trixie a senior dog?

Yes. Every dog listed on Lily's Second Chance, including Trixie, is a senior — generally age 7 or older. Senior dogs are often already house-trained and calm, and they wait the longest for a home.

Can I foster Trixie instead of adopting?

Some shelters and rescues offer a foster-to-adopt path — you foster first, then complete the adoption if the match feels right. Check Trixie's profile for the organization's contact details and ask them directly whether a fostering option is available.

What should I expect in the first weeks after adopting Trixie?

Senior dogs typically have a brief adjustment period of a few days to a couple of weeks as they settle into a new home. They may be quiet or shy at first, then relax once they feel safe. A calm routine, a comfortable place to sleep, and patience usually make the transition smooth. Most senior dogs settle in faster than puppies because they are already past the demanding early stage.

Is Trixie good with children or other pets?

Compatibility depends on the individual dog's history and personality more than age or breed alone. Dog Gone Seattle Rescue can tell you about Trixie's known behavior around children, cats, and other dogs. Many organizations offer a meet-and-greet before finalizing an adoption to make sure the match is right for everyone.
