Meet Tori
Age: 8 years Size: 5 lbs Estimated breed: Chihuahua Tori was found as a stray in a rural area, completely infested in fleas and anemic. She was never reclaimed, so we brought her to safety and will find her the best forever home! Tori is 8 years old, weighs a whole 5 lbs soaking wet, and is mostly toothless. She's one of the sweeter varieties of the chihuahua breed, allowing gentle pets from anyone and content with being picked up and carried around. She shares her foster home with a larger senior female dog and a cat, and she basically ignores them both. Her preferred companion is her human! Tori is sweet, gentle, and kind. She's seeking a quiet retirement home with a person who wants a low-key, low-energy lap dog! To adopt Tori, please apply using the button below! Tori's adoption fee is $200, which covers her vaccines, monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and microchip. Tori is spayed. Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training. PA Kennel License #18366

Adopting Tori — FAQ
How do I adopt Tori?
Use the adoption link or contact details on this page to apply directly with Nirvana Animal Rescue in Pennsylvania. Lily's Second Chance lists Tori to help them get seen — the adoption is handled by that organization.
Is Tori still available for adoption?
Tori's listing is refreshed regularly, but availability can change quickly as dogs are adopted. Always confirm Tori is still available directly with Nirvana Animal Rescue before making plans.
Is Tori a senior dog?
Yes. Every dog listed on Lily's Second Chance, including Tori, is a senior — generally age 7 or older. Senior dogs are often already house-trained and calm, and they wait the longest for a home.
Can I foster Tori instead of adopting?
Some shelters and rescues offer a foster-to-adopt path — you foster first, then complete the adoption if the match feels right. Check Tori's profile for the organization's contact details and ask them directly whether a fostering option is available.
What should I expect in the first weeks after adopting Tori?
Senior dogs typically have a brief adjustment period of a few days to a couple of weeks as they settle into a new home. They may be quiet or shy at first, then relax once they feel safe. A calm routine, a comfortable place to sleep, and patience usually make the transition smooth. Most senior dogs settle in faster than puppies because they are already past the demanding early stage.
Is Tori good with children or other pets?
Compatibility depends on the individual dog's history and personality more than age or breed alone. Nirvana Animal Rescue can tell you about Tori's known behavior around children, cats, and other dogs. Many organizations offer a meet-and-greet before finalizing an adoption to make sure the match is right for everyone.
