Meet Henry
Meet Henry! An eight-year-old Goldendoodle currently in Villa Rica, GA, whose essence is a heartwarming blend of goofy charm wrapped in a lightly golden coat. At 75 pounds, Henry may be a large boy, but in his mind he is still a puppy who happily believes every lap was made just for him! His cheerful personality shines wherever he goes, especially on neighborhood walks where his excellent leash manners and friendly smile win over everyone he meets. Henry listens well, knows sit, stay, and give paw, and has received formal obedience training, making him a wonderful companion for daily adventures. When the walk is over, Henry is just as happy relaxing beside the people he loves. He enjoys stuffed toys, chewing on his favorite Nylabone, splashing in the water, car rides, and spending quality time with his family. His easygoing nature helps him settle comfortably when left alone for short periods, and his favorite routine includes three small meals each day, several walks, and an early bedtime around 9 p.m. Henry is compatible with children of all ages and gets along well with other dogs, making him a welcoming addition to many different families! His experience with cats is simply unknown, as he has not had enough opportunities to interact with them. Loud fireworks and storms can make him nervous, so a calm, reassuring environment helps him feel secure. Henry is neutered, microchipped, house-trained, vaccinated, and receives regular grooming every six to eight weeks. He requires simple ongoing care to manage Addison's disease with one daily oral medication and a monthly cortisol injection, allowing him to continue enjoying life. He also follows a special diet because of his chicken allergy. Henry needs a loving family who will continue his daily walks, keep up with his straightforward care routine, and welcome his affectionate habit of pretending he is a lap dog. Whether joining a single person, a couple, or a family, he is ready to fill each day with laughter, loyalty, and companionship! Adopting Henry — FAQ
How do I adopt Henry?
Use the adoption link or contact details on this page to apply directly with Joyful Pets Animal Rescue in Amherst, Massachusetts. Lily's Second Chance lists Henry to help them get seen — the adoption is handled by that organization.
Is Henry still available for adoption?
Henry's listing is refreshed regularly, but availability can change quickly as dogs are adopted. Always confirm Henry is still available directly with Joyful Pets Animal Rescue before making plans.
Is Henry a senior dog?
Yes. Every dog listed on Lily's Second Chance, including Henry, is a senior — generally age 7 or older. Senior dogs are often already house-trained and calm, and they wait the longest for a home.
Can I foster Henry instead of adopting?
Some shelters and rescues offer a foster-to-adopt path — you foster first, then complete the adoption if the match feels right. Check Henry's profile for the organization's contact details and ask them directly whether a fostering option is available.
What should I expect in the first weeks after adopting Henry?
Senior dogs typically have a brief adjustment period of a few days to a couple of weeks as they settle into a new home. They may be quiet or shy at first, then relax once they feel safe. A calm routine, a comfortable place to sleep, and patience usually make the transition smooth. Most senior dogs settle in faster than puppies because they are already past the demanding early stage.
Is Henry good with children or other pets?
Compatibility depends on the individual dog's history and personality more than age or breed alone. Joyful Pets Animal Rescue can tell you about Henry's known behavior around children, cats, and other dogs. Many organizations offer a meet-and-greet before finalizing an adoption to make sure the match is right for everyone.
