Meet Wilson

Meet Wilson! Wilson is looking for someone to grow old with. He is a 9 year-old herding mix ( Border Collie, Cattle Dog, McNab, and a little mystery mixed in), and after spending his entire life with a family who was home with him nearly all the time, he's now searching for a new beginning. He's the kind of dog who doesn't ask for much. A soft bed. A few treats. A predictable routine. Most of all, someone to simply be with. Wilson is housebroken, rides great in the car, and once he trusts you, he's an incredibly sweet, affectionate companion. He'll quietly follow you from room to room, happy just knowing you're nearby. He's not demanding—he just loves being with his people. He can be shy with strangers and needs a little time to warm up, but kindness and patience are rewarded with unwavering loyalty. He'd be happiest as your one and only, though he may do well with calm, respectful dogs. (Cats are unknown.) Wilson could stand to lose a few pounds, so he'd love a family who will enjoy leisurely walks and help him get back into shape. And if you happen to have treats... he'll gladly show you the tricks he knows. Senior dogs have so much love left to give. Wilson isn't looking for perfection—just someone willing to give him the chance to feel safe, loved, and home again. If you think Wilson might be the companion you've been looking for, please send us a message. And if you can't adopt, sharing his post could help him find the family he deserves.

Adopting Wilson — FAQ

How do I adopt Wilson?

Use the adoption link or contact details on this page to apply directly with Saving Great Animals in Bellevue, Washington. Lily's Second Chance lists Wilson to help them get seen — the adoption is handled by that organization.

Is Wilson still available for adoption?

Wilson's listing is refreshed regularly, but availability can change quickly as dogs are adopted. Always confirm Wilson is still available directly with Saving Great Animals before making plans.

Is Wilson a senior dog?

Yes. Every dog listed on Lily's Second Chance, including Wilson, is a senior — generally age 7 or older. Senior dogs are often already house-trained and calm, and they wait the longest for a home.

Can I foster Wilson instead of adopting?

Some shelters and rescues offer a foster-to-adopt path — you foster first, then complete the adoption if the match feels right. Check Wilson's profile for the organization's contact details and ask them directly whether a fostering option is available.

What should I expect in the first weeks after adopting Wilson?

Senior dogs typically have a brief adjustment period of a few days to a couple of weeks as they settle into a new home. They may be quiet or shy at first, then relax once they feel safe. A calm routine, a comfortable place to sleep, and patience usually make the transition smooth. Most senior dogs settle in faster than puppies because they are already past the demanding early stage.

Is Wilson good with children or other pets?

Compatibility depends on the individual dog's history and personality more than age or breed alone. Saving Great Animals can tell you about Wilson's known behavior around children, cats, and other dogs. Many organizations offer a meet-and-greet before finalizing an adoption to make sure the match is right for everyone.
