Meet Ahri

Ahri came to the shelter on 8/7/2026 as an owner surrender. Her owners' lives underwent some big changes, and they could no longer give her the time and attention she deserves. She is a large and mature dog who is around 8 years old and looks mostly like a white German shepherd. She also resembles a collie in some ways, and she is very sensitive and intelligent, as both shepherds and collies are. Her coat is thick, dense, and fairly long, and she has been bathed and brushed out by our volunteers. Ahri has now been vet checked and updated on bloodwork and vaccinations. She was previously spayed and microchipped and her fee is $125. We had to work with Ahri for several weeks after her arrival as she slowly started to adjust to the shelter. Her whole world was upended so it was understandable. She would do best in an experienced home with a securely fenced yard. Ahri will not be the type to jump into someone's lap right away, for sure, but with time and a lot of patience, she'll become a person's most loyal friend. She will shed and require plenty of brushing to prevent her coat from matting. She has had basic training and has done okay with male dogs of similar size. She has done okay with kids, too, but we do not know about cats. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
