Meet Jack
Jack is a lovable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a gentle heart and an easy-going personality. He is the kind of dog who is simply happy to be wherever his people are, whether that’s enjoying a leisurely walk, spending time outside, playing with his toys, or relaxing with a cozy nap. Jack gets along wonderfully with everyone he meets, including visitors and other dog-friendly dogs. He enjoys playing with both his foster and resident canine companions, but he isn’t overly demanding and is just as content taking life at a slower pace. Having previously lived with his Cavalier sister, Jack is accustomed to sharing his home with other dogs and would likely enjoy a canine companion. However, his laid-back nature would also allow him to thrive as an only dog. Like many Cavaliers, Jack appreciates the finer things in life—especially a good nap! His favorite sleeping spot is draped across the back of the couch, where he can keep an eye on the household while staying perfectly comfortable. At 7½ years old, Jack has mastered the art of balancing playtime and relaxation. He still enjoys toys and play sessions, but he’s equally happy to curl up and recharge afterward. When Jack first arrived at Underdog, he was carrying a few extra pounds. Thanks to a healthier lifestyle, he has already lost several pounds and is feeling more energetic and playful every day. He still has a little way to go before reaching his ideal weight, but he’s enjoying the journey and the extra pep in his step that comes with it. Jack can occasionally seem a little confused, but he takes life’s little mysteries in stride with his calm and cheerful attitude. He is a sweet, uncomplicated companion who loves being part of the family and asks for very little in return. If you’re looking for a friendly, low-key companion who enjoys walks, naps, toys, and spending time with his people, Jack may be the perfect addition to your home. His gentle temperament would make him a wonderful match for many families, including seniors or retirees looking for a loyal and loving best friend. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Adopting Jack — FAQ
How do I adopt Jack?
Use the adoption link or contact details on this page to apply directly with Underdog Rescue MN in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Lily's Second Chance lists Jack to help them get seen — the adoption is handled by that organization.
Is Jack still available for adoption?
Jack's listing is refreshed regularly, but availability can change quickly as dogs are adopted. Always confirm Jack is still available directly with Underdog Rescue MN before making plans.
Is Jack a senior dog?
Yes. Every dog listed on Lily's Second Chance, including Jack, is a senior — generally age 7 or older. Senior dogs are often already house-trained and calm, and they wait the longest for a home.
Can I foster Jack instead of adopting?
Some shelters and rescues offer a foster-to-adopt path — you foster first, then complete the adoption if the match feels right. Check Jack's profile for the organization's contact details and ask them directly whether a fostering option is available.
What should I expect in the first weeks after adopting Jack?
Senior dogs typically have a brief adjustment period of a few days to a couple of weeks as they settle into a new home. They may be quiet or shy at first, then relax once they feel safe. A calm routine, a comfortable place to sleep, and patience usually make the transition smooth. Most senior dogs settle in faster than puppies because they are already past the demanding early stage.
Is Jack good with children or other pets?
Compatibility depends on the individual dog's history and personality more than age or breed alone. Underdog Rescue MN can tell you about Jack's known behavior around children, cats, and other dogs. Many organizations offer a meet-and-greet before finalizing an adoption to make sure the match is right for everyone.
