Meet Fremont
Foster or forever home wanted, meet Fremont! The moment we saw Fremont enter the shelter, we knew we had to and wanted to help him. In the condition he was in, we knew no one would be looking for him. What we saw was an extremely emaciated dog, with a significant loss of hair and a huge hematoma on one ear. This dog was either on the streets for a while or just severely neglected in the home he was in. Despite all of this, Fremont is so kind, gentle and pure love. He greeted everyone he met with tail wags and kisses. Fremont entered the shelter on 7/11 and had to stay at the shelter for the required stray hold period of 5 days. The veterinarian staff wanted to closely monitor and document his condition. Once he was cleared to leave, he got his freedom ride out of the shelter and straight to our vet for care. His hematoma is so bad, draining failed with two attempts, it filled right back up. Fremont will have surgery today, 7/17 to tack the ear flaps that will prevent the ear from filling up again. Fremont rides like a perfect gentleman in the car, walks nicely on the leash and is very well behaved. He is good with people and dogs. We figure he can stand to gain about 10 pounds to be at a normal weight. We're taking care of his skin so expect him to be a very handsome looking guy when we get him all fixed up. If Fremont sounds like a dog you'd like to meet and be part of his journey, please fill out an application at labradorsandfriends.org. Fremont is located in Southern California.
