Meet CHEESE

Patience Will Change His WorldLife feels a little too big for Cheese right now. The shelter is loud, unfamiliar, and overwhelming, so it's no surprise that he approaches the world with caution. He'll bravely come to the front of his kennel for a treat, but when the door opens, his first instinct is to step back and make sure everything is safe. With a little patience—and a few treats—he finds the courage to trust. Once outside, he walks beautifully on leash and seems to enjoy the quiet moments away from the noise. Cheese doesn't react to other dogs and may even be potty trained, happily taking care of business as soon as he gets the chance. In the yard, he's still learning that people can be a source of comfort. He'll stop by for a treat before continuing his thoughtful exploration, taking in the world one sniff at a time. Right now, he's not quite ready for pets or toys—but that's okay. Healing happens on its own timeline. This gentle boy doesn't need someone to rush him. Cheese needs someone who understands that trust is built one gentle moment at a time. Give him the patience to feel safe, and one day you'll be the reason he no longer has to be afraid. Cheese recently met some social dogs at our shelter and did fine. He wasn’t ready to make dog friends yet, but we hope that as he gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, he’ll be ready to show us his silly side with other dogs. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out his playgroup video here: To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!
