Meet Miracle Max

Miracle Max has some white on his face and he grumbles like an old man, but do not let that fool you. This dog gets the zoomies. He plays with the big dogs at the dog park and holds his own. Then he comes home and takes a nap, ideally pressed right up against you, and does that again three or four more times before bed. He has figured out the best parts of being 8 and skipped the rest. He is a beagle, so he is food motivated in the way beagles are food motivated. He has put on four pounds since he came into foster care and wears every ounce of it proudly. Car rides and walks are the highlight of his day. He is enthusiastic about both. He is not a polished passenger and needs a seatbelt harness or a crate, because he is convinced he can help you drive. On leash, he would prefer you follow his nose. Again, beagle. What Max needs you to know He spent the last month getting a few things sorted out medically. He takes a diuretic for an enlarged heart, plus drops and ointment for dry eye. Neither one slows him down. He is funny and affectionate and full of energy regardless. The medication does mean he drinks a lot and needs to go out a lot. The rhythm that works is offering him a trip to the yard within about half an hour of a big drink. He has learned to use pee pads when getting outside is not an option, though there is still an accident here and there. Someone home during the day, or a flexible schedule, would set him up to succeed. He also does not like being left behind. He will make a run for the door to go with you. He wants to be where his person is. Good with: other dogs. He has not been tested with cats or children. Max is looking for someone who will keep up with his medications, stay patient through the housetraining, and let him sleep against their leg while they watch TV. In return you get a sweet, silly, deeply loving beagle who thinks you are the best thing that has ever happened to him.
