Meet Glenda
Oh, sweet Glenda! She came to us from the city pound on July 17th and was a matted mess. We realized pretty quickly that she's a senior dog (a feisty one at that). She appears to be a shih tzu mix, but she could be mixed with other breeds, like Pekingese, poodle, and pug. She has had a full work-up at our vet, including being shaved under anesthesia due to the extreme matting, and was found to have been previously spayed. She was determined to be 12 to 14 years old, and she was also vaccinated, microchipped, and received a much-needed dental cleaning. Because of her age, we are waiving her adoption fee with an approved application. Glenda might be considered old, but she is still pretty peppy and has a fantastic personality. She's looking for a somewhat quiet retirement home in which she can just hang out with someone. She does have a very sensitive throat so she needs a harness for walks. She has done well with all the people she has met and we think she'd do fine with other smaller dogs who aren't too crazy energetic. She should be fine with cats, too. Don't write her off. She still has love and time to give to someone! NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
