At approximately seven years old, Chiquis was found wandering the streets alone. We don't know how she ended up there or how long she had been on her own. She may once have had a family, but when she needed someone most, there was no one there to claim her. Thankfully, Chiquis was found and brought into rescue, where she could finally stop worrying about surviving and begin looking forward to something better. Chiquis is a sweet little Chihuahua who deserves the security of knowing that she belongs somewhere. At seven years old, she has left the hectic puppy stage behind, but she still has plenty of life ahead of her. She's ready for walks, companionship, cozy afternoons, and all those ordinary moments that become special when shared with a beloved dog. As a Chihuahua, Chiquis comes from a breed known for forming incredibly strong bonds with their people. Chihuahuas are intelligent, loyal, alert, and affectionate companions. They may be small, but their personalities and devotion to their families can be enormous. Chiquis would thrive in a home that offers: Plenty of affection and companionship Daily walks appropriate for her age A comfortable place to rest and relax Positive reinforcement and gentle guidance A predictable daily routine Mental enrichment and interactive play A safe indoor home where she's included in family life Regular veterinary care as she enters her senior years Most importantly, a family committed to loving her for the rest of her life Chiquis has spent enough time wondering where she belongs. Her next chapter should be about knowing exactly where home is. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Even mature dogs need time to adjust after adoption. Chiquis will be learning a completely new environment, schedule, and family. Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand her new household routine 3 Months to settle in, build trust, and truly feel at home Being seven doesn't mean Chiquis can't continue learning. Adult and senior dogs can respond beautifully to positive reinforcement training, especially when they're given patience and consistency. Her new family should allow her to adjust at her own pace while providing gentle boundaries, regular exercise, enrichment, and plenty of opportunities to bond. Owner Responsibilities & Senior Veterinary Care At approximately seven years old, Chiquis is entering her senior years. Preventative veterinary care becomes increasingly important during this stage of life. Her adopter should be prepared to provide: Regular veterinary wellness examinations Senior bloodwork and health screenings as recommended Routine vaccinations Flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention Routine dental examinations and dental care A nutritious diet appropriate for her age and size Weight management Daily exercise appropriate for her health and mobility Mental stimulation and enrichment Veterinary care whenever illness or injury occurs A warm, comfortable, safe indoor home Senior dogs can have many wonderful years ahead of them. Consistent preventative care can help identify age-related changes early and keep Chiquis comfortable, active, and happy.
