Meet Neville
MEET NEVILLE! Affectionately known as Me Nevie! This handsome 8-year-old pug is a laid-back gentleman looking for a forever home where he can enjoy the simple pleasures in life. At about 35 pounds, Neville is a calm, affectionate boy who loves spending time with his people, lounging on the porch, watching TV, and taking short strolls around the neighborhood. He came to us after his owner had some cognitive changes that left Neville needing more consistent care. He has adapted very well in his foster home, and we are seeking placement in a calm, predictable home where his future needs can be met. Neville is a friendly, adaptable guy with a gentle soul. He gets along well with other dogs, barks at cats, has done well meeting children, and is friendly and welcoming with new people. While he enjoys companionship, he's not overly demanding and is happy to simply hang out nearby. He would likely be ok in a household where his people worked outside the home as long as you leave to TV on for him. One of his favorite possessions is his beloved pink heart stuffy, and if he really likes you, he may jump up to give you a sweet pug kiss. He is also a big fan of butt pats and dog-safe vegetables. Like many pugs, Neville knows what he likes and doesn't like. Car rides are not his favorite activity, and he strongly prefers to keep all four paws on the ground. He does a little better when riding in a crate but if you are looking for an adventure buddy Neville may not be your guy. Being picked up has never been his thing, even since puppyhood, so his future family will need to respect his boundaries and let him move at his own pace. When he's unhappy, he may grumble to let you know, but he's made great progress in foster care and has successfully handled recent veterinary visits with a patient, understanding team. He has needed a pre-med for grooming and vet appointments in the past. This should be something to consider with your veterinarian. Considering his distaste for car rides, living near your vet’s office or using a mobile vet would be a great option. Neville is food motivated and knows commands such as sit and come, although sometimes he chooses to exercise a little selective hearing. He enjoys a predictable routine, currently eats a weight-management diet, and has recently shed a few pounds while in foster care which has him feeling great. His hearing, vision, and mobility are all on point. He has a history of ear infections and was treated recently with a long-acting single dose medication. The ideal home for Neville is a quiet one where he can enjoy his golden years surrounded by love. He would thrive with people who appreciate a slower pace of life: relaxing evenings on the couch, time spent outdoors watching wildlife, and leisurely walks. A canine companion could be a wonderful bonus, especially a calm, friendly dog to nap and hang out with. Neville has been sleeping in his crate at night, he formerly slept with his person and we are pretty sure he would not object to resuming that practice. If you're looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who asks for little more than love, comfort, and a cozy spot beside you, Neville may be your perfect match. This charming senior gentleman is ready to spend the rest of his years being your loyal couch buddy, porch companion, and best friend.
