Meet Obsidian
If you’re a German Shepherd lover looking for a smart, chatty girl with a nose for adventure, Obsidian might just be your perfect match! This beautiful girl loves exploring the world around her and putting her nose to work. Whether she’s investigating a new smell or checking out her surroundings, Obsidian is always curious about what there is to discover! Obsidian is a loving girl who enjoys pets, hugs, and affection from her people. She is comfortable being handled and doesn’t mind being touched all over. Baths aren’t exactly her favorite thing in the world, but we can’t blame her for that! She was previously allowed on the furniture, so don’t be surprised if she thinks the couch is the perfect place to hang out with her family. This chatty girl knows sit, down, and come, and she typically lets her people know when she needs to go outside. However, she may have occasional accidents while adjusting to a new home and routine. Obsidian has spent time in a crate but doesn’t particularly enjoy it and may benefit from continued crate training. When left alone, she has previously been free to roam the house or spend time outside. She may bark when alone and has been known to investigate the trash or try a little counter surfing, so keeping tempting snacks and goodies out of reach will be important! Obsidian has done well meeting men, women, and children. She is generally fine with other dogs but has preferred male dogs in the past, her previous owner stated that she is a dominant female and tends to not appreciate other females. During her time in the shelter, we have begun seeing shelter stress that is resulting in less tolerance of other dogs, which is often a behavior we see with longer residents. She has lived around indoor cats successfully but does not care for cats outdoors. To her, outside means the chase is on! Slow and supervised introductions are encouraged. Obsidian is ready to find someone who appreciates everything that makes German Shepherds so special: her intelligence, curiosity, loyalty, and of course, her wonderfully chatty personality.
