Meet Plushy

Plushy is a 7-year-old Poodle/Maltese mix who may need a little time to show you just how special he is. Once he warms up and learns that he can trust you, Plushy becomes a true velcro dog who loves being near his person. His foster mom says Plushy is housebroken and enjoys the simple things in life—lounging comfortably in his bed, relaxing around the house, and enjoying some quiet time with his favorite people. He likes going for short walks, but for longer outings, Plushy would much rather ride in a stroller and take in the world from the comfort of his own little seat. He also loves squeaky toys and, of course, treats! Plushy has had some health issues that were addressed by our shelter veterinarian. He does have a recurring yeast infection in one of his ears, which clears with medication, and he will need to continue Optimmune eye drops for life. His medications will need to be given regularly, which can be challenging because Plushy is sensitive about being touched on his belly, back end, and ears, so he needs a special person who is in tune to his moods. Because Plushy can become mouthy when he is nervous or anxious, he is looking for an experienced adopter and an adult-only home with no small children. He needs someone who understands that trust takes time and who will respect his boundaries while helping him feel safe and secure. Plushy isn’t looking for someone who expects him to be perfect right away. He’s looking for someone who will give him patience, understanding, and the time he needs to feel comfortable. Once that trust is earned, you’ll discover the loving little shadow hiding underneath all that nervousness.
