Meet Raina
Meet Raina! She is about 8 years young. She is a sweetheart of a girl, very well mannered and a great companion. She was previously rescued by Southeast German Shepherd Rescue, about 6 years ago, from a man who did not treat her well . Raina was then fostered and quickly adopted by a family who showed her what Love was and let her “be a dog”. She lived with other large dogs, several cats and kittens. Her best buddy was an 8-year-old human girl . Unfortunately, through no fault of her own, Raina was returned to SGSR when her family had to move and couldn’t take her with them. It was heartbreaking for the family to have to leave her behind, but they were only allowed to have two dogs at their new house. After much discussion, and so many tears, they decided that Raina would find another home easier than the ir other, older dogs. Despite everything that Raina has been through, she has fit right in with her foster family and pack. She may be 8 years on paper , but she has the heart of a puppy. She loves to run and play with our two other female dogs and occasionally likes to chase the cat (to play) . Raina is still kind of timid around men but is learning to trust them more and more . She likes her foster dad because he gives her cheese! She does not like to be scolded and will retreat to her safe place (her crate). She likes to dig in the yard and eat the dirt, usually when she’s bored and left unattended. This is the only vice this sweet girl has. We are working on a compromise with her. I believe she is part Husky, as digging is a trait of Huskies, and she has a double coat. She will also be vocal when she wants something or when encouraged to “talk”. Raina has a wonderful temperament, is house broken, crate trained, and great with other animals. She is very protective of our 4-year-old granddaughter. Raina loves car rides and walks well on a leash. She loves to be brushed, sometimes will even tolerate being vacuum brushed, but avoids the house vacuum. She will need a fenced - in yard as she gets easily distracted. If you would like to adopt Raina and give her the permanent/forever home she so deserves, please apply with Southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com Raina is being fostered in Locust, N. Carolina .
