Meet Winnie

Winnie is a fantastic, energetic girl who is really blossoming in foster care! She definitely still has plenty of puppy energy and loves to play, especially with a ball or another dog who can keep up with her. She does wonderfully with other dogs and would be a great match for a playful canine companion her size. Winnie is also very smart, eager to please, and responds exceptionally well to correction. She has been wonderful with her foster's 9-year-old, enjoying plenty of supervised playtime together, and she has shown no resource guarding with food or toys. Winnie thrives on routine and consistent expectations, and she's proving just how much she can learn with the right guidance. Despite some difficulty with her crate at the shelter, she now happily sleeps in her crate overnight and goes in and out without complaint. She rides well in the car and even handled a recent trip back to the shelter clinic with excitement rather than anxiety. Winnie does have a very high prey drive and recently attempted to seriously injure a cat, so she needs a home without cats or other small animals and should not have access to chickens or similar livestock. She may also need continued guidance around very young children, as the unfamiliar experience of an infant crying was overwhelming for her. For an active family looking for a smart, playful, trainable dog who can keep up with their adventures, Winnie is ready to keep blossoming into a wonderful companion.
