Meet Dixie: Sweet senior hound seeking a new home in the Quad Cities

Dixie, an 8-year-old hound mix, has found herself at the Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan, Illinois, after her previous owner passed away. Weighing just over 60 pounds, Dixie is described by shelter staff as a 'big love bug baby' who enjoys car rides, long walks, and cuddling. She was transferred from another shelter with fewer resources to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, where staff are working to find her a loving home. Alicia Rohr, the Dog Care Manager at the center, notes that Dixie has a playful spirit and thinks she is much smaller than she actually is, often climbing onto couches to cuddle. In addition to helping Dixie find a home, the Quad City Animal Welfare Center is hosting a donation drive this weekend to restock essential supplies. Donations of gently used blankets and towels can be dropped off this Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Farm & Fleet in Moline.
