Mohawk Hudson Humane Society Launches New Sponsored Adoption Program "Hidden Gems" Adoption Fund Helps Long-Stay Shelter Pets Shine

The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (MHHS) has introduced a new program called the Hidden Gems Sponsored Adoption Program, aimed at helping long-stay shelter animals find their forever homes. This initiative covers the adoption fees and care costs for dogs and cats who have been in the shelter for 100 days or more. The program was launched with significant support from two generous donors: Mary Carey and her family, and Steve Caporizzo through Pet Connection and Lisa Cap's Legacy, established in memory of his late wife, Lisa. These donations total over $17,500. Many of these 'Hidden Gems' have special needs, including senior dogs, those who have overcome medical or behavioral challenges, or those overlooked due to their size or appearance. The shelter staff and volunteers have grown fond of these animals, recognizing their unique qualities. Ashley Jeffrey Bouck, President and CEO of MHHS, emphasized the importance of giving every animal a chance to be seen for who they truly are. The program aims to grow with community support, and interested individuals can donate through the MHHS website.
