Stray senior Lab-mix is News Journal Pet of the Week

Wiggums, an 8-year-old Labrador retriever-mix, was found as a stray and brought to the Richland County Dog Warden & Adoption Center on June 21. Despite being a senior dog, Wiggums is full of energy and enjoys outdoor play. Inside, he prefers lounging on the couch and spending time with people. To ensure his comfort, Wiggums is housed in a separate, quieter area away from the kennels, where he enjoys the best bedding and air conditioning. According to Kennel Assistant Taylor Dille, this arrangement helps reduce stress for senior dogs like Wiggums. The adoption fee for Wiggums is $199, which includes neutering, a rabies vaccine, a 2026 license, and a microchip.
