Two senior Labrador retrievers, Sugar and Spice, are on a heartwarming journey to find their forever home together. These bonded sisters, both turning 10 next month, have been inseparable for nearly a decade. Sugar, a yellow Lab, is blind due to a medical condition and relies on her sister Spice, a chocolate Lab, for guidance and confidence. Currently, they are being cared for by a foster family through Ma Paws and Me Pet Rescue, a nonprofit founded in 2017 that focuses on rescuing senior dogs and those with special needs. Despite Sugar's blindness, she has adapted well with Spice's help, and both dogs remain active, enjoying activities like walks, fetch, and swimming. Sugar has a special fondness for Culver's French fries, showcasing her Wisconsin roots. The rescue is now seeking a permanent home for the sisters, ideally one with a consistent routine and a safe environment, as open stairways may pose a challenge for Sugar. Volunteers describe Sugar and Spice as gentle, affectionate, and friendly. They are looking for a loving family that can provide them with a comfortable place to spend their senior years. Ma Paws and Me Pet Rescue believes that the right home for these special girls is out there, and they encourage anyone interested in adopting or fostering to visit their website and complete an application. The story of Sugar and Spice highlights the importance of giving senior and special-needs dogs a second chance at a loving home, a mission close to the heart of Lily's Second Chance.
