Meet Bruno VII

Bruno is an owner surrender looking for a new home. Hi! My name is Bruno! I am a handsome 7 year old flashy brindle boy that is searching for my forever home with my mom Sophie V! We are very bonded and go where the other goes so it's important we be adopted together! Prior to coming to the rescue Sophie and I were living with our owner in his car after we lost our mom and home and our dad's health was failing. We have since settled into a foster home and are thriving! I have the cutest and busiest wiggle butt and will intently and excitedly watch you when you speak to me. I will get excited and am learning not to jump, am learning how to play with toys and will play with rope toy occasionally, do well with baths, love food and treats, enjoy car rides, and enjoy playing with Sophie (she actually keeps up with me) until she is worn out! I have only been around Sophie so it is uncertain if I am dog friendly beyond our bond. We have never lived with a cat but am said to be kid friendly! I have attended some rescue adoption events and am very nervous on the leash around many people that I do not know. I do not like people (kids or adults) getting in my face and need slow approaches so that I know I am safe. Because of my nervousness it would be best if I am in a home with older kids or no kids. I am house trained but hate going out in the rain and prefer a human to go with me. I will go in my crate for a piece of cheese and am quiet but I prefer not to be in it. Although I am active for my age, I am a well behaved boy and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. I am fearful of storms and will go sit by the humans and tremble. If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and tell them you would like to meet Silver Heart Sophie and her boy Bruno VII because we are waiting to meet you! Is Bruno VII a senior dog?

Yes. Every dog listed on Lily's Second Chance, including Bruno VII, is a senior — generally age 7 or older. Senior dogs are often already house-trained and calm, and they wait the longest for a home.

Can I foster Bruno VII instead of adopting?

Some shelters and rescues offer a foster-to-adopt path — you foster first, then complete the adoption if the match feels right. Check Bruno VII's profile for the organization's contact details and ask them directly whether a fostering option is available.

What should I expect in the first weeks after adopting Bruno VII?

Senior dogs typically have a brief adjustment period of a few days to a couple of weeks as they settle into a new home. They may be quiet or shy at first, then relax once they feel safe. A calm routine, a comfortable place to sleep, and patience usually make the transition smooth. Most senior dogs settle in faster than puppies because they are already past the demanding early stage.

Is Bruno VII good with children or other pets?

Compatibility depends on the individual dog's history and personality more than age or breed alone. Austin Boxer Rescue can tell you about Bruno VII's known behavior around children, cats, and other dogs. Many organizations offer a meet-and-greet before finalizing an adoption to make sure the match is right for everyone.
