Meet Luna XIII
6/30/2026 Luna XIII is an owner surrender looking for a new home. Hi! My name is Luna XIII ! I am a beautiful 7.5 year old white boxer girl that is an owner surrender due to the other dog in the home not getting along with me. I am described as friendly, smart, calm, playful, affectionate, quiet, and obedient! I do great in boarding/doggy day care and am said to be sweet, playful, and gentle with other dogs! I currently live with 2 cats and am playful with them if they want to be entertained. There have also been foster kittens in my home and I've always played with them as well. I live with a 14 year old kid and love to lick and greet them and am playful and gentle with them! I am house trained, crate trained, have had professional training, know basic commands, leash trained, and will walk beside my owner! I currently eat Royal Canin Ultamino due to needing a food that is gentle on my stomach and good for skin and allergies. At night I sleep on my bed or on the couch and if the humans are away, I am very chill. I am used to a home with a doggy door and on occasion I can get lonely if alone. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. I am fearful of the swiffer sweeper and vacuum and if I see it, I will go outside through the dog door and wait until they are put away to come inside. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, bully sticks, greenies, bones with peanut butter or treats inside, belly rubs, being pet gently between my eyes and on my nose, running around playing with other dogs, sleeping on the couch, bed or in the sunshine on the porch! If you are looking for a loving and social girl contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

Is Luna XIII a senior dog?
Yes. Every dog listed on Lily's Second Chance, including Luna XIII, is a senior — generally age 7 or older. Senior dogs are often already house-trained and calm, and they wait the longest for a home.
Can I foster Luna XIII instead of adopting?
Some shelters and rescues offer a foster-to-adopt path — you foster first, then complete the adoption if the match feels right. Check Luna XIII's profile for the organization's contact details and ask them directly whether a fostering option is available.
What should I expect in the first weeks after adopting Luna XIII?
Senior dogs typically have a brief adjustment period of a few days to a couple of weeks as they settle into a new home. They may be quiet or shy at first, then relax once they feel safe. A calm routine, a comfortable place to sleep, and patience usually make the transition smooth. Most senior dogs settle in faster than puppies because they are already past the demanding early stage.
Is Luna XIII good with children or other pets?
Compatibility depends on the individual dog's history and personality more than age or breed alone. Austin Boxer Rescue can tell you about Luna XIII's known behavior around children, cats, and other dogs. Many organizations offer a meet-and-greet before finalizing an adoption to make sure the match is right for everyone.
