Meet Lucy IX

7/5/2026 Lucy IX is an owner surrender looking for a new home. Hi! We are Linus and Lucy IX! We are beautiful 7 year old fawn littermates who are owner surrenders due to our owner being unable to afford to care for us. We are littermates and have never been apart, therefore we need to be adopted together which means double the Boxer love and fun for you! We are described as friendly, active, smart, noisy, playful, affectionate, and nervous! We have not had exposure to many other dogs but live with a rescue pug and after a few weeks of getting used to him, we are very close with him. We occasionally see stray cats on the property we live at but due to us being in a fenced area, we do not have interaction with them and will bark at them. We have had limited exposure to children but our owner's niece occasionally visits and after giving us time to calm down, we are allowed to interact with her and we are great and will even lay next to her to watch a movie or stay by her side. We are always happy to see new people and it takes a few minutes for us to contain our excitement! We are house trained but will need crate training if that is required in our forever home. At night we sleep on the couch, love seat, or recliner and if the humans must be away, we are good being left alone. When outside we have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. Some of our fears include thunder and fireworks but we love riding in the car, chew toys, playing tug of war with rope toys, daily walks in the morning and evening, snuggling, sitting next to the humans, and getting pets from the humans! If you think we would make a great addition to your home, contact the rescue today and give them our names because we are waiting to meet you!

Is Lucy IX a senior dog?

Yes. Every dog listed on Lily's Second Chance, including Lucy IX, is a senior — generally age 7 or older. Senior dogs are often already house-trained and calm, and they wait the longest for a home.

Can I foster Lucy IX instead of adopting?

Some shelters and rescues offer a foster-to-adopt path — you foster first, then complete the adoption if the match feels right. Check Lucy IX's profile for the organization's contact details and ask them directly whether a fostering option is available.

What should I expect in the first weeks after adopting Lucy IX?

Senior dogs typically have a brief adjustment period of a few days to a couple of weeks as they settle into a new home. They may be quiet or shy at first, then relax once they feel safe. A calm routine, a comfortable place to sleep, and patience usually make the transition smooth. Most senior dogs settle in faster than puppies because they are already past the demanding early stage.

Is Lucy IX good with children or other pets?

Compatibility depends on the individual dog's history and personality more than age or breed alone. Austin Boxer Rescue can tell you about Lucy IX's known behavior around children, cats, and other dogs. Many organizations offer a meet-and-greet before finalizing an adoption to make sure the match is right for everyone.
