General’s story began when he was picked up as a stray in Madera, a small town in Central California. After a stay at the Madera Animal Shelter, the 6-year-old Pit Bull mix was transferred to Fresno Bully Rescue, a volunteer-run group that focuses on saving Bully-type dogs across California. He arrived at the rescue in mid-May and quickly became a standout with staff and volunteers. Though he came from the streets, General arrived already knowing commands and responding to training, which the rescue says suggests someone invested time in him before he was lost. He’s described as affectionate and eager to please, often demonstrating the skills he knows for visitors and staff and enjoying attention and play. The friendly dog drew wider attention when CBS 47 Fresno anchor Vanessa Villafuerte featured him during a “Fun Friday” segment on June 27. Rescue volunteer Bridgette Boothe counts him among her favorites, and social media commenters lavished praise on his sweet face, floppy ears and big, huggy nature. Despite his training, outgoing personality and the media spotlight, General remains available for adoption. Fresno Bully Rescue notes he would be a good fit in a variety of homes and is still waiting for a forever family to give him the stable, permanent home he deserves. Fresno Bully Rescue, which operates on volunteers and focuses on Bully-breed dogs in California, is caring for General and looking for adopters or fosters. People who want to help him can contact the rescue, share his profile to increase his visibility, or inquire about adoption or fostering through Fresno Bully Rescue.
